Job Summary:
The individual in this role will report to the DVP, Business Unit Controller and oversee the financial functions of the business, including G/L, A/P, A/R, Inventory, FA, and Payroll. Responsible for the monthly closing process (by Day 2), financial reporting, audit, and SOX requirements, and strengthening internal controls. This position will also drive productivity improvements, including streamlining and automating accounting functions, assisting in ERP system upgrades/implementations, and acquisition integrations, as required.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all transactions are recorded in accordance with USGAAP, with proper accruals, recording of assets, and matching of revenue and expenses.
- Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, credit and collections, inventory, and fixed assets procedures to ensure proper segregation of duties is achieved, and delegation of authorities align with Ametek policy.
- Support as primary liaison with both external and internal auditors, to ensure timely and complete responses on annual, interim, and periodic requests. Includes dissemination of requests internally, gathering, reviewing, and interpreting supporting documentation, delivery of support to the auditors, follow-up, assistance with draft responses to audit comments, and addressing key findings.
- Review weekly disbursement requests and make recommendations based on cash flow objectives and DPO targets.
- Review monthly Accounts Receivable for troubled accounts and develop key actions to collect past due accounts to meet cash flow objectives and DSO targets.
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes, including setting calendar, distributing closing checklists, performing preliminary reviews of financial statements by day 2.
- Review and signoff on monthly/quarterly account reconciliations and ensure all balances are supported, and material differences are cleared.
- Prepare, review, and upload required information for quarterly SOX testing.
- Ensure consolidated results are reported accurately to HFM.
- Maintain processes to collect required tax information and prepare company tax returns with the assistance of tax service providers.
- Performs periodic ERP user access and permission testing.
- Hire, train, and develop a team of approximately 4 direct and 10 indirect professional and clerical staff.
- Identify inefficiencies and develop actions to streamline, automate, outsource and/or improve processes within the accounting function to improve predictability of results, employee productivity, and retention.
- Assist with ERP implementations, upgrades, and acquisition integrations, as required.
Education/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. CPA or MBA preferred.
- Minimum 10+ years corporate controllership responsibility, within a public company.
- Minimum 15+ year corporate financial closing and reporting management.
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience interfacing directly with internal and external auditors.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience with inventory accounting, cost accounting or manufacturing accounting, preferred.
- Prior SOX compliance or Public Accounting experience required.
- Proven ability to hire, retain, and develop a high performing team of 10+ accounting professionals and clerical staff.
- Excellent communication skills across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to present a clear and concise message to the Executive and/or Senior Leadership Team.
- Strong time management and organizational ability, with the ability to prioritize, utilize available resources, adhere to calendar deadlines, and further improvement projects.
- Prior experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP and/or other integrated ERP systems is required; familiarity with HFM and Adaptive Insights is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and robust understanding of accounting and finance as it relates to the Balance Sheet, P&L, cash flow, typical KPI’s, etc.
- Advanced Excel skills (i.e., macros, pivot tables, V/H lookups, charting, etc.)
- Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Team player that can work well with others and is willing to go above and beyond the call of duty.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $135,000.00 - $155,000.00 per year
