Job description

The Accounting Assistant assists with various accounting tasks as requested and needed to support the accounting functions of accounts payable, invoicing, and some reporting tasks.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with preparation of contract billings, including preparing invoice package, compiling invoice backup and invoice submission
  • Download printing/copy data and prepare monthly reproduction journal entry
  • Prepare and distribute various monthly and quarterly projects reports
  • Monitor the Invoices email account and distribute to appropriate staff
  • Process consultant and employee expense vouchers downloaded from Unanet online expense reporting system.
  • Process subcontractor invoices
  • Maintain subcontractor/consultant monthly checklist
  • Create new job codes for proposals
  • Filing
  • Assist with audit requests for accounting backup information
  • Record Accounts Payable Checks in Check Register
  • Other duties to assist accounting staff as requested


MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School Diploma

Language: English fluency (oral and written)

Experience: 3 years similar Accounting assistance experience

Knowledge: Basic Accounting Principles

Skills: Accurate data entry skills, good with numbers

Soft Skills: Attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, self-motivated

Software Proficiency: Excel

Location: North Bethesda: JBS supports a hybrid work schedule.


PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Associate degree or higher in business administration or equivalent preferred

Experience: 5 years similar Accounting Clerk experience

Software Proficiency: Deltek Costpoint Accounting Software, Unanet

Location: North Bethesda: JBS supports a hybrid work schedule.
