Clemson University's English Department is looking for an Accountant/Fiscal Analyst II to fulfill the following duties:

  • Serves as point of contact for all financial processes and accounting for CAAH's Department of English.
  • Manages budgeting, procurement, reimbursements, and budget analysis for the department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:


45% - Essential - Financial Operations:
Tracks budgets, processes vouchers, and reconciles accounts for assigned departments. Works with vendors to facilitate agreements. Maintains files for audit purposes. Processes vouchers utilizing the appropriate resources, following guidelines. Manages faculty reimbursements and travel requests for faculty members in all three departments. Prepares budget transmittal forms (BTF), disbursement corrections, and payroll corrections and submits them to Business Office for processing. Analyzes journal error reports daily. Monitors expenditures and budgets throughout the fiscal year, reporting any discrepancies to the appropriate department chair. Also, takes necessary action to rectify any discrepancies found.

20% - Essential - Compliance and Account Monitoring:
Monitors all accounts to ensure accuracy in the posting of expenses to correct accounts and documentation of transactions. Recommends alternative spending options to department chair. Reconciles monthly BSR reports for expenditures and revenues for department 0523. Resolves any discrepancies on the budget status report with supporting documentation. Manages corrections of all errors, reviewing with appropriate contacts to educate and train on proper policies and procedures. Develops and communicates financial reports to facilitate the effective management of the department.

15% - Essential - Prepares Reports:
Prepares budgetary reports for department chair. Works with Principal Investigators within the English Dept. to assist in managing Fund 20 grant expenditures. Acts as purchasing card liaison for University purchasing cards assigned to department including posting transactions and reconciling bank statements for all p-card transactions. Follows up on any unauthorized charges. Prepares web deposits and completes physical deposits according to University Policy and Procedures for assigned departments. Picks up checks for the Dept. of English.

10% - Essential - Fiscal and Administrative Support:
Performs fiscal and administrative support for the Department of English. Manages budget development for all accounts including E&G, Self-Generated Revenues, and Foundations. Establishes new accounts and various grants and projects.

10% - Essential - Financial Forecasting:
Establishes and maintains a salary database for the department in order to project, track and report on salary expenditures throughout the fiscal year. Also, tracks and projects other operating expenditures and informs the department chair of anticipated outcomes. Performs other department-related financial tasks as requested by the department chair.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


Education - High School Diploma

Work Experience - Professional experience in a related area such as accounting, auditing, finance or commercial lending.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:


Education - Bachelor's Degree with multiple accounting courses may be substituted for the required work experience

Standard Hrs: 37.5; Expected Salary Range ($ 35,360.00 - $ 48,000.00)

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
