The YMCA of Greater Richmond is looking for a full-time Youth Development Center Director to serve as a positive role model and who will plan programming, oversee center management and supervise children in our Summer Program as well as during the school year at the Midlothian Family YMCA.
Duties:
Responsibilities include development and implementation of engaging youth development programs, supervision of a group of school age children, and day-to-day operations of a school age child care center. Seasonal responsibilities include high quality day camp programming: including planning, parent communication, and staff development and oversight.
Qualifications:
Candidates should have a passion for youth development and the Y mission. A high school degree or equivalent is required, with a bachelor's degree preferred. At least one year of supervisory experience in youth development is required. Related academic/enrichment experience and/or college courses are strongly preferred. Excellent relationship-building skills and oral and written communication skills are required, as well as computer and administrative proficiency.
- Must complete Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff online prior to working first shift with children.
- Must complete CPR & First Aid certification within first 30 days of employment.
AT LEAST 21 YEARS OF AGE AND ONE OF THE FOLLOWING EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE:
- A graduate degree in a child-related field* AND six months of programmatic experience:
- An endorsement or bachelor's degree in a child-related field* AND one year of programmatic experience:
- 48 semester hours or (72 qtr hrs) of college credit of which 12 semester hours or (18 qtr. hrs.) are in child-related subjects AND one year of programmatic experience:
- Two years of programmatic experience with one year in a staff supervisory capacity and one of the following:
- One-year early childhood certificate from a college that consists of 30+ semester hours;
- A child development credential e.g. CDA
- A certification from a recognized Montessori organization.
AND, ONE OF THE FOLLOWING FOR MANAGEMENT KNOWLEDGE:
- At least six months of on-the-job training in an administrative position that requires supervising, orienting, training, and scheduling staff
- Childcare management course covering: Planning, Budgeting, Staffing & Monitoring
- College course in a business-related subject
- At least ten hours of management training
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are required
