The Team and the Role:
INDUS provides industrial support services across the Undersea Weapons Department (Code 30), Test and Evaluation Department (Code 20), Undersea Systems & Sustainment Department (Code 40) and Unmanned and Theater Undersea Warfare Systems Department (Code 50), of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division, Keyport (NUWCDIVKPT). Requirements include providing technical support services associated with various industrial operations, depot repair activities, and torpedo intermediate maintenance functions.
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Welder welds metal components together to fabricate or repair products in support of programs on the NUWCDIVKPT Industrial Support Services (ISS) contract. The ideal candidate has experience using gas welding, brazing, and any combination of arc welding processes. This candidate will also perform related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding, repairing broken or cracked parts, filling holes and increasing size of metal parts, and clamping together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding. - Keyport, WA.
- Bangor, WA.
- Hathorne, NV.
- Weld metals and alloys (primarily steel and aluminum) in various sizes and shapes in the repair of shipping containers, canisters, structures, devices, hardware, and support equipment.
- Welding services are to be performed in accordance with S9074-AR-GB-010/278 “Requirements for Fabrication Welding and Inspection, and Casting Inspection and Repair for Machinery, Piping, and Pressure Valves and T9074-AD-GIB-010-1688 “Requirements for Fabrication, Welding, and Inspection of Submarine Structure”.
- Setup and operate various types of welding, cutting, and brazing equipment, including but not limited to manual metallic arc (MMA), heli-arc/gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW)/tungsten inert gas (TIG), aircomatic/gas metal arc welding(GMAW)/metallic inert gas (MIG), and oxyacetylene or methylacetylene-propadiene propane (MAPP) gas.
- Visually inspect operations performed and take corrective action as required.
- Breakdown/disassemble and clean containers, canisters, structures, devices, hardware, and support equipment in preparation for abrasive blasting and welding operations (e.g., remove fasteners, latches, seals, debris, and skids).
- Assemble containers, canisters, structures, devices, hardware, and support equipment in accordance with shop instructions/processes.
- Bid and proposal support if requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- An active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
- At least three (3) years of experience welding steel sheet and aluminum sheet.
- Must possess current American Welding Society (AWS) Class II welding certification in SMAW (steel), GMAW (aluminum), and GTAW (steel and aluminum).
- Must be licensed and certified to operate 6,000 pound electric and diesel forklift and CAT III overhead crane.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
INDUS aims to provide a competitive compensation package, including a strong pay for performance rewards approach. The expected base pay range for this position is $26.25 – $29.94 per hour.
