About SOX Compliance & Controls (SOX C&C)
SOX Compliance & Controls is a global team of professionals which assesses critical financial, regulatory, and technology processes/areas supporting all lines of businesses and functions around the world. We are a diverse, resilient, and unique group of experienced business & technology professionals based within the Company’s Finance Department. SOX C&C is comprised of four primary areas, with opportunities for mobility across these areas for our employees:
- Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) – SOX 404 Compliance
- Internal Control over Regulatory Reporting (ICRR)
- Basel Independent Verification (BIV)
- Information Technology

In This Role You Will
BIV is responsible for executing rigorous verification and testing of BCBS 239 and Basel related processes and controls. Independently assess, through verification and testing, the internal control framework to ensure that all internal systems supporting compliance with the Basel rules and BCBS 239 principles are properly designed, documented, and working as intended .
Responsibilities of this Role:
- Works with senior management to develop controls over BCBS 239 and Basel rules that are sound and effective to ensure compliance. Assigned business/business partner areas are large and highly complex. Incumbents demonstrate a breadth of knowledge of compliance and control and a thorough understanding of SOX and specialized understanding of BCBS 239 and Basel rules.
- Recognized as a SOX point of contact and subject matter expert for BCBS 239 and Basel rules.
- Supports senior management by helping to drive the BIV compliance program within a business/business partner area, across multiple business/business partner areas and/or across regions. Coordinating closely with our business partners and external auditors.
- Supports the execution of the BIV assessment programs and ensures that the programs are sound and effective.
- Develops internal control & compliance concepts and applies expert knowledge to implement planning, performing, managing and reporting on the evaluation of various business processes.
- Leads and develops the execution and delivery of controls & compliance initiatives to evolve controls framework, risk management approaches and operational efficiency. May delegate SOX compliance duties to more junior team members. Is accountable for supporting the resolution of complex business risk issues.
- Evaluate potential financial and risk impact of control deficiencies and coordinate with control owners on remediation plans including following through to ensure corrective actions are achieved within agreed timescales.
- Serve as a trusted liaison for control owners, as well as for our internal and external auditors.
- Coaches and guides the activities of more junior team members and providing guidance to improve their performance .
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required .
- Minimum of 10-12 years of experience in SOX, Internal Audit, Public Accounting, Audit or a combination of private and public accounting (preferred but not required).
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certification is preferred.
