We are looking for a UI / UX designer to add to our team who desires to own and drive the creative direction of large-scale projects to include custom applications, heavily used web portals, and effective business websites. This role is ideal for a designer wanting to be involved in all aspects of user experience, including UI. Someone who wants to understand the details (ADA compliance, page optimization, user engagement statistics, etc.) will thrive in this position.

Candidates should excel at and be passionate about UI/UX design and be familiar with web design best practices, including ADA compliance design rules and responsive design. The right candidate is a self-starter, problem-solver, seasoned communicator, and someone who loves to drive the creative direction from start to finish. They will work to understand and exceed our client's expectations and understand the importance copy plays in an effective design. They are willing to design words to create compelling user experiences. The candidate needs to excel at top-notch and corporate-level UI/UX designs.

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 4 years of experience in web design and be able to show a portfolio of work. The candidate should show achievements and accomplishments in past work and academic history.

Responsibilities

  • Work with business analyst and developers to design complex applications to include workflow, function, UI, and copy
  • Participate in client meetings to collect initial visual and UX requirements and preferences, receive feedback, and implement changes to initially presented mock-ups
  • Review outdated websites and restructure navigation and content flow for a better UI/UX experience. Redesign the look and feel from scratch
  • Structure design documents to leverage reusable symbols for efficient document-wide changes
  • Leverage Figma as the primary design tool with experience in Sketch
  • Leverage Adobe Suite products to include Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
  • Develop website designs and interfaces from scratch (We do not leverage templates, so you must be a strong designer)
  • Develop detailed wireframes and mock-ups
  • Craft copy within designs — i.e. taking a paragraph provided by a client and design user-friendly copy
  • Provide a style guide and clear directions to the developer to ensure successful development
  • Fill in as needed on the team for smaller tasks such as creating social graphics, designing print material, finding photos, and supporting other web designers

Required Experience & Skills

  • 4+ years of UI/UX web design experience
  • Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design, XD, Sketch or similar experience
  • Self-starter with the ability to dive in with minimal direction
  • Detailed-oriented, organized, and able to quickly prioritize while managing multiple parallel projects and several small requests from ongoing clients
  • Must be flexible and have experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with numerous types of project methodology, including agile and waterfall
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent skills in written communication and documentation
