Position: Tutor Ohio Kids Lead/McKinney-Vento Liaison AssistantPosting Date: March 13, 2023Start Date: April 1, 2023Deadline To Apply: March 24, 2023 The Athens-Meigs Educational Service Center (AMESC) is seeking qualified applicants for the Tutor Ohio Kids Lead/McKinney-Vento Liaison Assistant position.The Mission of the Athens-Meigs Educational Service Center is to work in partnership with the community to improve student achievement, build capacity, and raise expectations for all individuals in our service region.Purpose Statement/Position Description: The position of the Tutor Ohio Kids Lead/McKinney-Vento Services Assistant was established for the purpose of: Coordinating activities to connect schools, families, and youth to tutoring servicesProviding professional development to enhance the capacity of local school districts to deliver effective academic tutoring servicesSupporting the work of the McKinney-Vento Liaison Position Details: 16 Month Position: April 1, 2023 through July 31, 2024Salary: $55,000.00Board Approved Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision and Life InsuranceGrant funded Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Display sensitivity and care in working with vulnerable populationsAbility to evaluate effectiveness using dataDemonstrate a high level of professionalism and commitment to confidentiality Understand school systems and ESSAHas knowledge of area resources for families related to economic stability, mental health, health care, food access, etc.Ability to prioritize and plan work activities Ability to use time efficientlyDisplay initiativeRespond promptly to customer needsCommunicate clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situationsEssential Functions: Oversee the regional implementation of Tutor Ohio KidsProvide targeted professional development and technical assistance to meet the unique needs of the region as outlined in HB 583 and ORC 3301.28Participate in the High-Impact Tutoring Implementation Workshop Series Attend monthly network meetings that provide ongoing support and collaboration Arrange for background checks to be completed at no cost to the tutorAssist the AMESC Treasurer with reimbursement by ESCCO for any background checks completed under the provisions of HB 583 Provide a summary of implementation at the end of each yearSupport the work of the McKinney-Vento (M-V) LiaisonAssist with developing ongoing support materials and professional development for partner district M-V LiaisonsSupport the collaboration between identified school staff and the M-V Liaison to conduct outreach to identified families and provide resources - may include home or community-based locationsSupport the development of needs and strengths assessments of each family to assist families in reducing barriers to educational stability and successSupport the coordination between school districts when a student transitions schools due to housing instabilityAssist with the development of plans with families who are M-V eligible to ensure equal access to school and school activities Support the identification of attendance, academic, and behavioral challenges faced by students experiencing homelessness Collect data and evaluate the effectiveness of resources and supports providedWhen directed, link families experiencing homelessness to community resources Application Process: Applicants should complete the online job application and provide a cover letter, resume outlining qualifications, and three professional references.
