Under general supervision/procedural control, performs a combination of clerical and bookkeeping duties related to collecting, recording, and safeguarding college-wide revenue. The position requires specialized knowledge of the MinnState ISRS accounts receivable, registration and financial aid modules. It also requires knowledge of principles and practices of college admissions, registration, records management, financial aid and business office functions, as well as related online functions. Performs related work as required.

Specific Duties Include:
  • Oversee tuition and fee collection in the business office and student service function.


  • Collect, record, and safeguard enterprise and other college-wide revenue. Process payment via cash, check, and credit card, process payments by EFT as well as payments left in the drop box.

  • Monitor unpaid student accounts and issue refunds when necessary. Place business office holds and late fees on unpaid accounts in accordance with college policies
Required Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications (expected to have to enter job)
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of college admissions, registration, records management, financial and tuition office functions.


  • Knowledge of online functions related to registration, records and tuition payments.

  • Working knowledge of electronic spreadsheets, word processing software, computers and office equipment such as a calculator, copier, and fax machine.

  • Mathematics skills sufficient to calculate, review and reconcile data and balance accounts.

  • Ability to design, interpret and explain work procedures and operations and provide advice on fiscal policies and procedures.

  • Ability to read and write a variety of materials in English.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in accounting, finance, or related degree plus two years of technical level accounting or finance; OR, four years of technical level accounting or finance experience.


  • MinnState Business Office and/or Finance Office experience.

  • Thorough knowledge of MinnState accounts receivable module.

  • Demonstrated MinnState accounting system experience.

  • Prior experience collecting and processing tuition and fees or similar-type payments.
