We have an amazing opportunity to join our fantastic Menzies Aviation team as a Training Officer to support our Ramp operations in our Americas stations, supporting the Training Management on matters of Safety, Security and Education. You will be based in Dallas, Texas.

We are looking for someone who has a proven track record in Safety, Security, Education & Training Administration.

Key responsibilities

The Training Officer carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Assists the Training Management on matters of Safety, Security & Education through Training & Training Programs as well as proactively promoting a “Safety First” Culture.

Training Officer

Reports to: Training Manager

Location: Dallas, Texas

Overview

The Training Officer will perform as a functional trainer and be responsible for administering field station training programs for ramp operations through classroom, hands on and verbal instruction. This individual will also assist and provide support to training management on matters of safety, security and education through training and training programs. As well as proactively promote a “safety first” culture by introducing safe working procedures in accordance with Menzies Aviation’s policies and procedures.

Main accountabilities include:

  • Effectively deliver new hire and annual recurrent training for all station personnel
  • Effectively deliver ramp OJT and Driver Training – Secondary OJT and other training based on training qualifications.
  • Project a professional image/conduct at all times
  • Ensure that the delivery of training courses are aligned to support and ensure safe and secure operations in accordance with the highest possible standards of health, safety, security and all government statutory requirements
  • Support employees and supervisors in undertaking the protective and preventative measures necessary to achieve compliance with health and safety legislation as it applies to them.
  • Support corporate compliance by ensuring that training is aligned to promote and support applicable Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations
  • Report any breaches of statutory requirements or company best practice to management.
  • Participate in safety audits daily and provide corrective action assistance to management.
  • Complete daily shift reports and other reports as requested.
  • Attend and participate in monthly departmental meeting.
  • Required to attend the mandatory training imposed by the Company and Airlines as per job role.
  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Inform their manager / supervisor of any work situation, equipment or activity that represents a serious or immediate danger to health and safety.
  • Report any hazards, near misses, incidents, accidents, or dangerous occurrences to their manager / supervisor, who will then follow the procedures contained in this manual.
  • Carry out work in accordance with information and training provided and any specific workplace health and safety rules or procedures.
  • Fully understand the company health and safety policy.
  • Attend training courses as may be arranged by the Company.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
  • Ability to proficiently read, write and speak English.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must have a positive, can-do, upbeat personality.
  • Must enjoy dealing with people daily.
  • Able to remain calm under pressure.
  • Must excel in time management skills and require minimal supervision.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time at the ticket counter and gate check-in areas.
  • Always uphold the image and standards of the company
  • Must be comfortable lifting 70lbs.
  • Must pass FBI background check and obtain US Customs seal.
  • Must be available and flexible to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to work extended hours on short notice during non-routine operations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word programs
  • Must have a high school diploma, GED, or three years of experience in ramp/cargo operations.
