TPWD MISSION
To manage and conserve the natural and cultural resources of Texas and to provide hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Wildlife Division Branch Chief of Administration and Research, this position performs routine (journey-level) staff services work and serves as the point-of-contact for the Wildlife Division relating to Human Resources functions. Work involves coordinating all human resource activities including confidential personnel actions and internal requests. Coordinates job posting requests, career ladder promotions and helps ensures consistency in division job classification standards. Assists Budget Coordinator in updating and maintaining accuracy in the Position Control file and ensuring that staff is aware of changes related to HR operations. Conducts training regarding Wildlife Division HR processes. Carries out or assists with other staff services functions such as purchasing, training, records management, travel voucher review, and organizing select staff meetings. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Graduation from High School or GED.
Experience:
Five years administrative support experience related to human resources, office management or related business practices.
Licensure:
Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid class “C” Texas driver’s license.
NOTE: Retention of position contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required license.
ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTIONS:
Experience:
Thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of the required experience, with a maximum substitution of two years.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or closely related field.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of policies and practices in personnel/human resources functions, including retirement, selection, training and promotion regulations and procedures; compensation and benefits packages; and personnel information systems;
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing systems, filing and records management systems, form design principles and other office procedures and terminology;
Knowledge of general office procedures;
Skill in using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint and Outlook;
Skill in using Centralized Accounting and Payroll/Personnel (CAPPS) System;
Skill in effective verbal and written communication;
Skill in providing quality customer service in a courteous and professional manner;
Skill in listening to other people and asking questions, as appropriate;
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with co-workers and work-related contacts;
Skill in interpreting, analyzing and explaining organizational policies and procedures;
Skill in identifying, researching and compiling information;
Skill in managing several projects simultaneously;
Skill in meeting deadlines;
Skill in knowing how to find information and identifying essential information;
Skill in using standard office equipment;
Skill in training others;
Ability to use sound judgment in dealing with confidential matters of significant consequences;
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality;
Ability to organize and schedule meetings and operate webinars (e.g., Microsoft Teams, WebEx, etc.);
Ability to work independently with little or no supervision;
Ability to work as a member of a team;
Ability to maintain flexibility and work with frequent interruptions and multiple and changing priorities;
Ability to perform manual labor including lifting supplies and materials up to 15 lbs.;
Ability to conduct work activities in accordance with TPWD safety program.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Required to work from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday;
Required to work overtime as necessary;
Required to perform manual labor including, lifting supplies and materials up to 15 lbs.;
This position is suitable to telework two days per week and the candidate may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval;
May be required to operate a State vehicle;
Required to travel 5% with possible overnight stays;
Required to conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules, and safety standards;
Non-smoking environment in State buildings and vehicles.
