This position joins Oregon Health Authority’s statewide AmeriCorps VISTA team. In addition to activities at your individual site, each member receives additional orientation, training throughout the year, team meetings, and the support of the team leaders and project director based at the state public health agency. Tillamook County is a rural and close-knit community with access to outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, crabbing, camping and exploring the many beaches. Tillamook County Community Health Centers (TCCHC), is a Federally Qualified Health Center, integrated with traditional public health, medical, dental and behavioral health services serving all of Tillamook County. TCCHC is committed to providing quality service without discrimination. Tillamook County Public Health focuses on prevention and uses selected interventions to prevent the spread of disease and reduce health risks. Prevention strategies are population based and designed to improve the overall health of communities. The Tillamook County Community Assessment and Engagement VISTA will be a critical piece of this county’s vision, working collaboratively with team members and community partners to identify health equity barriers across multiple sectors and create healthy communities within the county. Member Duties : The AmeriCorps Member will administer, develop, and enhance strategies for partnering with Community Based Organizations (CBOs) to address how health promotion pathways impact underserved communities. Collaborate with CBOs to implement data gathering encompassing a variety of social, health, environmental, mental and community resources to implement new communication channels that are linguistically and culturally relevant to diverse populations. Support efforts to transition people of out of poverty through Tillamook County Community Health Center’s public health programs serving marginalized populations disproportionately impacted by environmental health factors, chronic diseases, and communicable illnesses by increasing engagement and practice of healthy choices to decrease risk for current and future generations. The member will either serve remotely or in a professional office. Applicants should possess four years of higher education or relevant work experience.
