ConMet is hiring a Test Technician. Are you a mechanically skilled person who is seeking a technical hands-on role? Would you enjoy working on mechanical systems, assembling components, creating fixtures and/or machine shop projects? Would you like to work in a World Class Technical Center where you can support the research and development of new products?
This Technician is a mechanically skilled hands-on role, responsible for building up truck components and assemblies for internal development, testing or customer samples. You will need to work with different materials and equipment to prepare parts and samples that require carefully following instructions. This position is part of the Technical Center which requires supporting research and development of new products through creative solutions.
This position is based in Vancouver, Washington at the ConMet Technical Center, which provides design verification and product validation support for all our core products. Our team of engineers and technicians maintain specialized test machines and equipment that are used for continuously developing innovative new capabilities to provide our customers with cutting edge products that provide value without sacrificing performance for the commercial vehicle market.
- Builds and assembles test components and prototypes for testing
- Creates test fixtures and maintains test machines and equipment
- Performs wheel end assembly set-up and monitors test machines to perform benchmark and validation testing
- Installs components and instrumentation on test vehicles
- Conduct test to failure point or suspension and document results
- Acquires test measurements and documents results
- Strong mechanical aptitude with strong problem-solving
- Motivated, self-starter with good communication skills
- Commercial vehicle or automotive repair experience (or equivalent mechanical experience)
- Basic knowledge of hand tools, power equipment
- Fabrication and machine shop skills preferred.
- Associate degree in a hands-on technical field and/or two years equivalent combination of education, training and experience preferred.
- Two or more years of test and measurement experience preferred.

- Salary range
- Entire hourly rate range ($ 28 - $ 40) placement based on qualifications and professional experience.
