Job Purpose This position will be responsible for initiating and maintaining work packages to document maintenance, testing, configuration changes, production, and repair activities for NASA's space suits, ancillary equipment, and flight crew equipment.
SLC Description of Tasks to be Performed:
Entry to Mid-level position. Works in accordance with established polies and procedures. Works under guidance of a Technical Writer II. Works primarily on non-complex hardware while being able to be trained on complex hardware and systems. Supports the development of policies and procedures Initiates and maintains work packages to document maintenance, testing, configuration changes, production, and repair activities. Maintains, controls, monitors, reviews, and approves the release and status of work control documentation, utilizing manual or automated systems. Evaluates and approves work control documentation to ensure compliance of approved configuration changes. Develops and prioritizes work schedules based on processing, production, monitoring, testing, and delivery milestones. Performs duties pertaining to schedules and Work Authorizing Documents (WADs). Reviews work documentation and assigns and distributes to the appropriate group(s). Documents anomalies using authorized procedures. May review records to verify tools and equipment meet calibration, and inventory acquisitions are adequate and available. Allocates parts, equipment, materials, and tools to meet work requirements and schedules. Coordinates and/or provides assistance to appropriate organizations for expeditious resolution of work schedule, processing discrepancies, and work stoppages. Initiates and maintains documentation records through the use of automated data systems. Initiates and tracks all documentation in support of processing activities. Maintains accountability logs, records, and indices as required.

Essential Duties: The applicant must prepare work-authorizing documents needed to initiate and create a record of the work performed. The applicant must closeout work-authorizing documents following completion of the work.
The applicant must have good organizational and planning skills, in order to understand and communicate support requirements for flight hardware.
The applicant must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
The applicant must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and must demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate with technical professionals, including government property administrators, engineers, and management.
The applicant must demonstrate good attention to detail.
The applicant must be self-motivated, able to work as a team member, and able to be successful even when forced to make unpopular decisions or requests.
Develop and maintain master Task Preparation Sheet (TPS) templates to capture all current requirements and to streamline TPS generation. Includes coordinating TPS master reviews with Engineering, Production Processing, Quality Records and other invested groups.
· Compile OneEVA Monthly metrics charts that track training events, including number of suits and tools processed and Requests for Support.
· TPS signature approval as TPS Initiator for all hardware classes and equipment groups, including quality document Type A and Type B TPSs.
· Support real-time training events with duties including TPS modifications, rapid hardware allocation, and assisting Engineering during anomaly resolution.
· Use multiple databases to prepare training and flight EMU sizing documents for NASA astronauts and test subjects, while maintaining strict tolerances for pre-delivery acceptance requirements.
· Schedule training events and coordinate lab resources as needed by internal and NASA scheduling requests. Coordinate with Engineering and Production Processing for test team support requirements. Maintain calendars with current delivery and pick-up times.

Key Performance Indicators: Prepares work in accordance with policies and procedures and established guidelines under direct supervision. Maintains detailed records. Verifies internal consistency, accuracy, and quality.
Perform flight hardware long & short-term planning, provisioning and logistics, projects scheduling, generate work authorizing document and test processing sheets. Work with design and production processing engineering to implement engineering changes and resolve hardware discrepancies to minimize impacts to Space Shuttle and Space Station flight schedules. Presently working as Publication Technologist Sr. in charge of EMU Processing Documents used to process flight hardware.
Prepared Test Preparation Sheets (TPS), Change Request (CR), Work Authorizing Documents (WADS), Open Item Status Reports (OISR) and Fabrication Action Breakdown (FABS) forms for FCE/EVA Space Flight suits.
Allocate parts, equipment, materials and tools to meet work schedule. Coordinates and/or provide assistance in resolution of prioritizing work schedule, processing discrepancies, delivery milestones and work stoppages.

Skills and Qualifications Required
· Education : A high school diploma is required. An Associate Degree is preferred in a technical discipline. A Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline is even more preferred.
· Interpersonal Skills : The applicant must be able to work as a team member, and be successful even when forced to make unpopular decisions or requests.
· Years of Experience : At least 5 years relevant work experience is required with a High School Diploma. No work experience is required with a college degree.
· Industry Experience Requirements : Experienced with preparing and processing work authorizing documents.
· Experienced with logistics planning.
· Experienced with handling high-value government-owned hardware.
· Required Areas of Expertise and Level of Competence : Preparing and processing work authorizing documents.
