Tax Professional for CPA office in Seguin, Texas

Position: Full-time staff accountant for mid-sized tax preparation and public accounting firm

Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation and general ledger accounting
• MS in Accounting or EA registration preferred
• Must be knowledgeable in tax preparation, bookkeeping, and financial statements

Compensation: Salary starting at $75,000, negotiable based on experience

Location: Seguin, Texas

Job Description: Staff accountant needed for CPA firm in Seguin, Texas. The applicant is expected to be able to complete the following

• Prepare and review tax returns for individuals, businesses, and fiduciary clients for both federal and state reporting
• Post, reconcile, and review general ledger entries and coordinate with our in-house bookkeeper for business clients
• Process and prepare periodic payroll, including quarterly and annual payroll tax reporting. Be knowledgeable in payroll processing and procedures.
• Prepare state sales tax, franchise tax, and other necessary periodic tax filing reports
• Prepare, budget, and forecast tax estimates for business clients
• Must be competent in cash-basis and income tax basis of accounting, and be able to read and understand financial statements for business clients
• Provide interoffice support and resolve client inquiries
• Be able to solicit new business and become involved in community events and enhance visibility for self and firm
• Provide support for firm owners and current staff with technical knowledge and process enhancements
• Present self in a professional and knowledgeable manner that provides confidence to the client base
• Must have excellent computer and communication skills
• Competent in QuickBooks, Excel, and document management systems. Knowledge of tax software platforms preferred
• Cross-train in other office responsibilities to assist with staff coverage
