  • Science and Technology Corporation (STC) is seeking to fill multiple Satellite Systems Engineer positions in support of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Environmental Satellite, Data and Information Service (NESDIS) satellite missions. NOAA is responsible for the protection of lives and livelihoods of the American public through its weather, oceans, climate and coastal predictions. As the environmental satellite arm of NOAA, NESDIS has the mission to provide secure and timely access to global environmental data and information from satellites and other sources to both promote and protect the Nation's environment, security, economy and quality of life. Systems engineers at NESDIS support the procurement and sustainment of new flight and ground systems and the modification of existing systems needed to operate the satellites, collect, process, distribute, and store satellite data, products and services for the nation’s civilian environmental satellite (spacecraft and sensor) programs. They are responsible for program and project level management activities for current and future environmental satellite missions, instruments, ground systems, products and annual satellite program budgets.

Responsibilities

As a satellite systems engineer at NOAA/NESDIS, you will:

  • Apply systems engineering methodologies including CONOPS generation, systems architecture definition, systems analysis, architecture and design, system performance modeling, integration and test management, and/or model-based systems engineering. Lead or support strategic planning and special studies.
  • Apply engineering or scientific knowledge in satellite systems engineering and space mission design to the management and oversight of the formulation, planning, and development of environmental satellites. Includes preformulation and formulation services: candidate, preliminary analysis and system definition studies
  • Manage satellite system and ground systems requirements. Establish and codify requirements and lower-level user needs (i.e., resolution, timeliness, and accuracy);
  • Manage the integration and execution of activities, risk posture, and resources
  • Formulate, execute, advise on, and explain recommendations or solutions to modify standard practices, processes, and techniques; resolves a wide variety of complex problems.
  • Function as project engineer for operational environmental satellites and other engineering projects exploring, developing, and testing new systems, requirements and integrated and/or derived products

Desired Skills:

  • Systems engineering experience at NOAA, NASA or DoD for ground or flight missions
  • Knowledge of the NOAA ground system architecture, current missions and NOAA management staff through previous direct assignment
  • Knowledge of NOAA data products and services

Qualifications

  • Degree in an engineering discipline with 2-25 years of experience
  • Program management experience or ability to quickly learn
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident / Green Card holder with at least 2 years residing in the US.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
