As a Systems Engineer I, you'll help maintain, troubleshoot, and build business support systems while effectively communicating technical information to diverse audiences.

*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
*
- Manage and triage service requests.
- Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
- Help manage, monitor, and maintain all installed systems and infrastructure.
- Provide direct support to scientific and administrative staff in a multi-platform computing environment to diagnose and troubleshoot issues.
- Ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
- Monitor application performance, identify bottlenecks, and collaborate with higher-tier engineers to implement solutions.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE*

- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in IT, computer systems engineering, or systems analysis.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES*
*
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Windows and/or macOS X environments installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Linux experience beneficial but not required.
- Understanding of computer networking (OSI network layers, TCP, IPv4); familiarity with IPv6 is beneficial but not required.
- Familiarity with monitoring systems and automation software preferred.
- Ability to successfully pass a federal background check and a drug screen
- Cherokee Federal employees are included as covered employees in U.S. Presidential Executive Order 14042, which mandates Covid vaccines for federal contractors. Executive Order 14042 is currently blocked from enforcement pending court proceedings. Therefore, Cherokee Federal is halting the application of the mandate; however, if the injunction is lifted, Cherokee Federal will restore administration of the vaccine requirement.
WORK ENVIRONMENT*
This position will be Hybrid and performed at NoAA’s office in Boulder, CO 3 days a week and 2 days remote.
**Estimated Starting Salary Range: $78,000- $84,000 annually
