Job description
The Ophthalmic Surgical Coordinator is a vital part of the clinical team and requires the ability to clearly and effectively communicate with a diverse patient base. Our surgical counselors assist all physicians with counseling prospective patients who have inquired about surgical services or any other information they may need. We are seeking an applicant with a positive and enthusiastic approach to their work, with an outgoing personality to match. Experience in ophthalmology or medical surgical counseling is preferred but not required. Some travel between our locations in Monmouth County may be required.
Responsibilities:
- Explain surgical procedures to patients.
- Send patients for lab testing if needed.
- Review lens choices with patients and collect monies if they are a candidate.
- Review surgery schedule and premium lens choices with doctors before surgery.
- Scan all signed consents.
- Answer patient phone calls before and after surgery.
- Schedule in office procedures and complete necessary paperwork.
- Other position appropriate office duties.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Previous surgical coordination experience preferred but not required.
- Experience using Electronic Health Records systems
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be a well-organized, team-player with great attention to detail.
- Demonstrate superior computer skills.
- Highly energetic with positive attitude.
