We are currently looking for a qualified applicant to fill the following position: FT - Supervisor (Social Work) ($56K - $66).
Job Description: Under the President's, the Executive Vice President, The Vice President of SE Programs and the AIC Director's supervision, the Social Work Supervisor is responsible for providing direct services to Members and managing the clinical/therapeutic aspects of the assigned program in addition to wellness related programming.
Essential Functions:
  • The Social Worker II will provide direct therapeutic services to member and manage all aspects of the Therapeutic program.
  • Social Work II will proactive de-escalation with youth in crisis, individual counseling, referrals for on-going mental health services as needed, facilitation of mediation sessions and on-going groups to address trauma-related issues, self-esteem development and other topics as needed.
  • The Social Worker II is responsible for monitoring maintaining oversight on the quality control of the Wellness Team records and services per DHS, PA DPW state and program requirements. Social Worker II will provide accurate data tracking of all Wellness team activities and services in a timely manner per reporting standards and guidelines.
  • The Social Worker II is responsible for oversight, hiring, management, and supervision of all members of the Wellness team, as well as clinical interns, and monitoring the duties and contract of The Wellness Team.

Key Functions:
  • To conduct individual counseling sessions with youth and facilitate support groups related to self-esteem building, trauma experience, leadership development, anger management & reduction, and pregnancy & parenting, and other topics as identified. (Brief therapy and crisis intervention).
  • To provide effective de-escalation and counseling to escalated, distressed, and/or disruptive Members. Be directly involved with member/member and member/staff mediation meetings and to provide recommendations regarding member discipline when appropriate and serve as program liaison with all community treatment resource agencies. This includes expanding program knowledge and usage of appropriate resources.
  • To build and maintain positive relationships with youth and staff. This includes maintaining a high level of visibility on site and being aware of potential problems between members.
  • To assist youth and Case Managers/Counselors to develop and implement safety plans for all youth identified at medium or high risk of acting out within or outside of the AIC and provide leadership to all staff members in regard to clinical issues impacting member behavior and productivity.
  • To provide quality weekly guidance as related to crisis, mental health and wellness services for youth in the client review meetings. Assist in recording the identified plans determined in client review meetings.
  • To generate and maintain reporting elements for clinical and wellness services provided in assigned program(s).
  • To supervise Wellness Coordinator, Mentoring services and intern/field placement program.

Other Duties:
  • Participate in on-call rotation as required by program area. (May be N/A for some programs).
  • Understand and adhere to Valley Youth House policies, practices and procedures.
  • To participate in weekly scheduled supervision with direct supervisor and be prepared with an agenda.
  • To attend and actively participate in all designated team meetings.
  • To attend both external and internal agency trainings and workshops and complete and pass all required trainings as set forth in the funder and licensing regulations as required.
  • To complete other related tasks as appropriate or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • The Social Work Supervisor II shall be a mature individual with the ability to articulate and implement the philosophy of the Independent Living Program.
  • The Social Work Supervisor will possess sound judgement, clinical, communication, and youth work skills.
  • This person must possess a clear understanding of the Child Welfare System and its impact on children, adolescents and families.
  • A successful candidate will be adept at multitasking, prioritizing needs and making sound decisions in crisis situations.
  • The Social Work Supervisor will be trained in mediation and de-escalation techniques and develop experiential adventure-nature based counseling skills.
  • She/he shall never have been convicted of any child abuse offenses.
  • 3 years of experience working with adolescents
  • A Master's Degree in Social Work or related field.
  • Must have LCSW, MFT or LPC licensure.
Preferred Qualifications:
2yr experience presenting to diverse populations - youth and professionals.
