Mayor Jerome A. Prince is excited to announce the city’s Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). This program will provide district youth ages 14 to 21 with enriching and constructive summer work experiences in the private and government sectors. Program highlights include a dynamic Leadership Institute series where youth will participate in interactive workshops, tours, and field trips. Trained workshop facilitators will equip young people with the tools and guidance on personal development such as:

• The importance of a positive self-image
• money management
• and conflict resolution to name a few.

The following documents must be uploaded to complete the application:

• Copy of Social Security Card
• Copy of Birth Certificate
• Most recent report card or transcript
• Picture I.D. (i.e. State ID, Driver’s License, or School ID)
• Proof of Residency: Parent or guardian's state ID or DL with a Gary address; a copy of utility bill (GSD, NIPSCO, Water) within the past thirty (30) days)

The application process will start Monday, May 8, 2023, and close Friday, May 26th, 2023.
