Make a difference in a young person’s life! We are seeking an Evening and Weekend Studies Coordinator at the Joliet Job Corps Center in Illinois. This is a part time position. Job Corps is a federally funded, residential vocational training program for socioeconomically disadvantaged youth aged 16-24, with over 120 locations across the U.S. (www.JobCorps.gov). The Evening Weekend Studies Coordinator provides individualized and flexible academic instruction to facilitate students’ attainment of learning gains and high school diplomas or equivalent in the evening and weekend hours. Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Summary of Essential Functions
- Coordinate the center’s Evening/Weekend Studies (EWS) program to ensure students can participate in a minimum seven (7) hours of enrichment activities during non-training hours in compliance with the Job Corps Policy and Requirements Handbook (PRH).
- Utilize Center Information Service (CIS) data and team feedback to determine support needed and plan individualized EWS activities for every student.
- Review student schedules weekly and recommend adjustments for students to participate in EWS in collaboration with the scheduling, academic, and Career Technical Trade staff.
- Facilitate lessons, enrichment activities, and groups that connect with training day goals.
- Maintain documentation supporting EWS participation in the Center Information System (CIS) and department files.
- Coordinate qualified community volunteers to provide tutoring support to students as part of the EWS program.
- Facilitate in-person instructional support to students as needed to meet educational and trade requirements and facilitate interactive lessons and group instruction.
- Prioritize enhancement in digital literacy and information technology certification within the EWS program.
- Maintain strict compliance with data integrity standards in documenting training hours, to include distance learning.
- Act as a liaison between the Career Preparation Period (CPP), Counseling and Career Transition Readiness staff in regard to student needs.
- Work closely with the CPP team to provide quality virtual and in person instructional support to Pre-90-day students.
- Utilize information systems and handle student data in strict adherence to Job Corps and Strategix policies to protect student’s personally identifiable information (PII) and reduce network security threats.

Qualifications
Minimum
Bachelor’s degree in education or related field from accredited institution and two years of experience working with disadvantaged youth, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent customer service, group facilitation, and conflict resolution skills. Information technology proficiency including MS Office.
Preferred
State teaching certification and previous Job Corps experience.
