Position Description:

Together we will dismantle institutional racism in our organization and build up policies, practices and a culture that ensures race no longer predicts health outcomes, and outcomes for everyone improve. To help achieve this mission, the Chief Health Policy Advisor (CHPA) for Milwaukee County advises the County Executive and other County leadership on strategies and policy to enhance the health and wellness of our community. The Chief Health Policy Advisor is seeking a Research and Policy Analyst to aid in the informing and understanding of issues affecting the health of the citizens and visitors of Milwaukee County.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Review published literature and research topics as requested to help develop policy briefs, topic summaries, or other needed informational products to be used for policy development, departmental advising, or public messaging
• Identify data and/or credible information to help CHPA make informed recommendations
• As requested and available, participate in meetings to discuss above outlined deliverables
• As requested and available, participate in meetings with Milwaukee County stakeholders

Qualifications:

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree, and advanced degree or enrollment in advanced degree program in relevant field preferred
• Ability to evaluate and synthesize published literature
• Ability to interpret data and analyses
• Commitment to addressing and promoting racial equity
• Commitment to addressing and promoting community and public health
• Research or policy experience preferred
• Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, and communications skills

FTE Level, Employment Arrangement and Duration:

• Part-time (TBD 2-3 hours per week on average) contracted position with the Medical College of Wisconsin Institute for Health Equity (IHE)
• Remote working arrangement – responsible for own office space, technology, equipment, supplies and work-related expenses
• Minimum 6 to 7 month commitment with potential for renewal

Accountability Structure:

• The Research and Policy Assistant will be accountable to the IHE leadership and the CHPA

Preferred Schedule:
2-3 Hours per week
