Job Summary

The British International School of Chicago, Lincoln Park is an international school based in Chicago, catering to children from 15 months to 11 years of age. With direction from the Class Teacher and Learning Resource team, the Student Aide’s role is to support academic learning and the development of social skills as outlined in the student’s Individual Learning Plan. Support will be based in the classroom with the Aide supporting the student’s daily learning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Establish and nurture an excellent working relationship with the student,

• Support the student’s social-emotional development and wellbeing

• Plan for and implement tailored support for an individual learner

• Set and maintain consistently high expectations for behavior and positive learner attitudes

• Anticipate the student’s individual needs and to accommodate these accordingly

• Collaborate with teachers in planning, differentiation and assessment of learning activities

• Identify and source resources to support learning

• Provide feedback to, and share information with teachers about the student’s progress

• Maintain excellent communication with the student’s family

• Provide the student’s family with feedback about progress

• Share information about the student with other staff, as appropriate

• Actively support and demonstrate an inclusive approach for all learners

Other Responsibilities:

• Adhere to all school policies and procedures

• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils.

• When requested, to attend training and professional development

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.

• 2 years of teaching or experience in education is required.

• Basic computer and technology skills preferred, though training in specific programs can be provided.
