Description
The Staff Facilities Engineer will work with the Base Engineering Supervisor. If you are selected as the Staff Facilities Engineer, you will support the development and consistent implementation of engineering and construction standards in the design/execution of “Base” process facility projects (e.g., facility debottlenecking, artificial lift conversions, GHG reduction technology, and operation/maintenance upgrades). This role collaborates with representatives of other departments and fields to help execute projects from initial concept through commissioning or start-up. The Staff Facilities Engineer will provide the needed support to all existing assets and function as an operations engineering representative on new development projects; this support will range from small to mid-size projects, corrective maintenance recommendations, and the development of preventative maintenance plans.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Coordinating with Project Engineers, Production Operations, Maintenance, Environmental, Regulatory, HSE, Planning & Scheduling, Surface Projects, Right of Way, Supply Chain, Drafting, and Third-party Engineering to successfully develop and complete facility infrastructure plans in a changing environment
- Showing demonstrated commitment to and understanding of ConocoPhillips Lower 48 (L48) HSE Management System and health, safety & environment (HSE) requirements
- Helping develop infrastructure capital and expense spending profiles for the Bakken Long Range Plan (LRP)
- Presenting to management and business partners for the support and funding of capital projects
- Providing troubleshooting and optimization support to operations/maintenance
- Supporting project teams, maintenance and operations in the execution, commissioning, and start-up of facility upgrades or modifications
- Developing scope of work definition, preliminary and detailed design, bill of material (BOM) generation, cost estimating, equipment selection, procurement, and construction cost control for base facility projects
- Developing technical specifications and collaborate with Base Instrument and Electrical (I&E) Engineers to establish cause & effect charts, control narratives, and process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID's)
- Coordinating with project designers/drafters (In-house & 3rd Party) in the creation of PFDs, P&IDs, isometrics, plot plans, 3D models, and other design documentation
- Abiding by and supporting the management of change (MOC) Process, including participating in pre-start-up safety reviews (PSSRs) to comply with the HSE Management System
- Participating in risk assessment evaluations and process hazard analysis (PHA)
- Monitoring and reporting progress of base facility projects and track/reconcile actual and forecast project costs
- Providing creative project options to meet critical schedule constraints or cost requirements
- Leading and developing programs and standards to support the maintenance of equipment in process facilities for production operations and preventative maintenance departments within the business unit
- Interpreting and implementing corporate & industry engineering standards, specifications, and code requirements
- Participating in the review of deviations to Corporate and/or industry standards
- Providing direct and impartial feedback on the compliance of Business Unit Facilities with industry code requirements to management
- Leading efforts to ensure modifications, designs, and construction standards for equipment are fully understood and effectively managed through the management of change (MOC) process
- Directing the sourcing and oversight of Engineering Contractors
- Working with data analytics to develop tools and models that target key problems within facility operations
- Collaborating to design/implement data engineering solutions that drive continuous improvement
- Demonstrating strong SPIRIT values and be recognized as a technical specialist for the business unit
Basic/Required:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as a permanent resident, refugee or asylee
- Current/Valid driver’s license
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, other related business field, other related technical field, or foreign equivalent
- 7+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry
- 7+ years of experience in design, construction, or operation of oil and gas facilities in the United States
- 7+ years of experience working with various Engineering disciplines
- Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to travel 20% on a yearly basis
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil Engineering, or foreign equivalent
- 10+ years of experience in oil and gas
- 10+ years of experience in the design, construction, management of small and large oil & gas production/processing facilities, or pipelines and/or compression
- Advanced knowledge of Technical Standards (API, ASME, ASTM, NEC, etc.)
- Advanced knowledge of upstream production operations from wellbore to sales point
- Advanced knowledge of OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) regulatory requirements
- Advanced understanding of the project process and interactions required to execute a project
- Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), remote telemetry/transmission unit (RTUs), and supervisory control and data acquisition (Scada) Systems
- Experience with directing engineering contractors or project teams
- Field experience in construction related activities
- Ability to manage multiple projects
- Ability to travel to sites as needed to support field activities
- Strong communication, partnership, and problem-solving skills
- Responds resourcefully, flexibly, and positively when faced with challenges and demands
- Ability to specify appropriate equipment and material as well as evaluate alternatives
- Good understanding of Company Safety and Environmental policies and processes
