The Staff Accountant will play a key role in our growing accounting team ensuring proper accounting for revenue and cost recognition, daily/monthly reconciliations, financial statements preparation, and multi-company consolidation. The ideal candidate will partner with a diverse group of stakeholders to develop and implement processes to centralize general accounting functions. The candidate will work closely and collaborate with key executives, store General Managers, and other stakeholders in implementation of new process and technologies across the family of dealerships.

Responsibilities:

  • Take lead in development and implementation of general accounting processes, general research and proper accounting for recognition of revenues and expenses
  • Work in collaboration with the treasury team, perform bank reconciliations to ensure outstanding items are researched and recorded timely and accurately
  • Assist in developing and analyzing information by developing reports and providing recommendations
  • Assist operational personnel with system education, general ledger account use, disbursements and account research as needed
  • Provide accounting support for preparing financial statements, statement consolidation and additional analysis as required
  • Prepare monthly journal entries as needed
  • Assist the Controller in developing and implementing financial discipline, expense control and optimization
  • Document current processes, define gaps and recommend standardized processes
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects, additional duties as directed

Qualifications:

  • Self-starter, motivated by results, problem solver, team player
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance a must
  • Automotive industry GAAP knowledge strongly desired
  • Ability to understand and interpret financial statements, strong communication skills a must
  • Proficient in computer software MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • CDK Global experience a plus
  • MS Dynamics experience a plus
  • Comfortable with operating multiple application systems
  • Demonstrated success building consensus and working in team environment
  • Ability to complete multiple projects on time with varying timelines and priorities
  • Some domestic travel may be required
