Little Sisters of the Poor is hiring a Staff Accountant.The position and our expectations:
The staff accountant position was established to provide financial shared services to non-profit organizations that are part of the Little Sisters of the Poor – Baltimore Province. Duties performed include treasury functions, disbursement entry support, general journal entries, general ledger account analyses, reconciliations, and financial reports for those organizations.
We expect the person selected to be trustworthy and detail-oriented. Possessing a degree in accounting, finance or business is required. Significant, successful experience (7 years) as an accountant, or similar financial role in a multi-site environment is a prerequisite. This position reports to the Assistant Controller of the Baltimore Province’s financial shared services team. The position is part of a staff of 5 and works closely with financial staff in each organization. The ability to meet deadlines, along with working independently and problem solving is critical. Solid computer skills are essential, including knowledge of complex accounting/financial systems (e.g. Epicor, NetSuite or Microsoft Dynamics).

The Little Sisters of the Poor has operated in the U.S. since 1869. The Little Sisters of the Poor – Baltimore Province own and operate not-for-profit Continuing Care Retirement Communities, lovingly referred to as Homes, in 7 States. The Little Sisters of the Poor are an international congregation of Roman Catholic women who devote their lives to caring for the elderly poor. It is their mission in life; as employees working with the Little Sisters, we are a part of that mission. The Little Sisters reside in the Homes and have a vested interest in their financial status, safety and security, meals, and cleanliness. Most important is the respect, dignity and loving care given to the residents.
The person selected for the staff accountant’s role will receive training from the current employee in the position, who is retiring in July.
