Meets and instructs assigned learners (caseload, class, peers, in-service, children, pupils, students) in the locations and at the times designated.

Creates an environment that is appropriate to the maturity of the student and conducive to learning.

Establishes and communicates to the student clear objectives for lessons and strategy instruction.

Provides at assigned workstation, written evidence of program preparation.
-
Encourages students to set and maintain appropriate standards of behavior.
-
Employs a variety of instructional techniques which are compatible with the physical space limitations and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.

Implements the district’s education philosophy by selection of instructional goals and objectives.
-
Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.

Attends staff meetings.
-
Evaluates and orders materials necessary for instruction.
-
Evaluates the progress of each child enrolled in the program by collecting regular data toward ISP goals and communicating with non-public personnel regarding progress in general education.

Assists assigned students in such physical tasks as putting on and taking off outerwear, moving from room to room, using the lavatory, etc., if needed.
- Bachelor’s degree with specialization in special education. Classroom experience preferred.

Missouri Special Education Certification in appropriate area (BD, LD, MR, SH, VI, HI, PI, Deaf/Blind, ECSE) required.
