Responsibilities:

We are seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer to support the Peraton Space Exploration Networks Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract for our NASA customer based in Greenbelt, MD (GSFC). This position will allow for 100% telework, with travel to the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD and other NASA locations, as needed.


As prime contractor on the Peraton Space Exploration Networks Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract, Peraton is responsible for the operation, maintenance, sustainment and systems engineering of NASA’s worldwide satellite communication networks. Join the SENSE team to support NASA programs that integrate with state-of-the-art RF satellite communications systems and technologies. In this position, you will become part of NASA’s return to the moon, support new earth and space science missions, and launch vehicles. You will be an integral part of a world class team that ensures NASA space-ground communications are reliable and meet mission requirements.


This position will provide systems engineering duties, in support of the ARTEMIS 3 and Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope missions, including the following:

  • Develop and maintain systems engineering-related documentation including:
    • Operations Concept documents
    • Requirements documents with traceability
    • Specifications
    • System and subsystem design documents
    • Interface Control Documents
    • Validation & Verification Plans
  • Prepare for and conduct milestone reviews
  • Plan and execute end-to-end systems integration
  • Perform analysis, design, and development of ground systems
  • Lead and perform trade studies
  • Interfacing with customers, external partners, and internal partners
Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or other related technical discipline, and 8 - 10+ years of directly related experience; or a Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or other related technical discipline and 6 - 8+ years of related experience
  • At least 8+ years of experience as a systems engineer/architect on space-related development programs
  • Prior experience with analysis, design, and development of communications systems
  • Prior experience leading and performing trade studies
  • Knowledge of systems engineering processes and best practices
  • Prior experience coordinating and directing the work of peers
  • Prior experience with planning and scheduling project milestones
  • Working knowledge of the MS Office suite of tools, including MS Project
  • Security clearance: the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance, which requires a US citizen

Desired Qualifications:

  • An active Secret clearance
  • Prior experience working with NASA programs and projects
  • Prior experience leading and performing trade studies associated with ground systems
  • Prior experience with mission integration
  • Have the ability to work under challenging timelines with ambiguity
  • Independent, highly organized, ability to execute related and unrelated tasks in parallel, takes initiative
  • Excellent communication skills

Range for Posting: Salary Minimum: $57,500 Salary Mid: $115,000 Salary Maximum: $143,800 The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position, and is just one component of Peraton's total compensation package for employees.
