Located in Calvert, 35 miles north of Mobile, Alabama, our state-of-the-art steel processing facility has the capacity to process 5.3 million tons of high-value steel grades in the North America market. The ideal candidate for this position willl be responsible for maintaining equipment and overall reliability of the Hot Strip Mill Reheat Furnaces, Cooling Water Circuits to meet the AM/NS Calvert business plan goals.


WHAT IT TAKES

The Basics

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical or electrical maintenance in an industrial environment
  • Ability to understand and troubleshoot different types of industrial equipment; pumps, hydraulic systems, lubrication systems, rotating equipment, and cooling systems
  • Schematic/Print Reading Skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to create notifications and look up work orders in SAP

The Extras

  • Accredited vocational or technical program completion or bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Experience with PDM activities, i.e.; vibration, thermography, pump and motor alignment or UT inspections
  • Working knowledge of QA/QC inspections

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies, completing inventory risk assessments / requests
  • Performs and/or assists in the development and implementation of policies, standards and procedures for the mechanical and technical work performed in the department
  • Responsible for scheduling, planning and execution of short and long-term maintenance activities and for securing cost and availability for effective preventive maintenance
  • Is responsible for ensuring the workflow, which includes gatekeeping, backlog review, proper notifications entered by asset mechanics, proper work execution, quality inspections during work execution
  • Is responsible for PM execution and creation, quality review of PM results, EXP alarm and criteria generation, new PM development when needed
  • Supports management in optimizing quality, cost, availability and performance of equipment
  • Leads LOTO efforts for downtime events and outages and is also responsible for annual ECP reviews

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Industrial/mill environment in Calvert, Alabama
  • Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads. General working hours are 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM with a 30-min lunch break.
  • Outages and Pitstops (typically twice per month) are expected at 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM for 1 to 2 days.
  • Semi-Annual Outages (typically twice per year) are expected to be 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM for at least 6 consecutive days, likely through a weekend as well.
