School Adjustment Counselor Full Time TEC High School is part of The Education Cooperative. We are a student-centered, therapeutic school that offers a caring and supportive academic experience to adolescents in grades 8-12. The Adjustment Counselor/Special Education Teacher is an integral part of the school support team and meets regularly with members of the staff in order to provide immediate academic and emotional support to students who are experiencing challenges in their ability to learn, interact, and participate in the activities of the school. In this position, you will provide direct individual/small group counseling services to students, consultation to classroom teachers, and provide crisis intervention.

You will also co-teach a DBT skills-based class. You will also have contact with families, out of district coordinators, and outside providers on a regular basis. The Adjustment Counselor/Special Education Teacher maintains confidentiality of students at all times, maintains a professional attitude, and develops productive relationships with students, families, staff, and administration.Job Description: - Maintain assigned caseload; Providing direct care to students-including assessments of new students, treatment plans, progress notes, IEP Progress reports- Maintain and submit current licensure or Certificate necessary for the performance of the position- Actively participate in team meetings- Provide crisis-intervention- Co-lead DBT Groups- Maintain professional, complete, and thorough student records with entries made in a timely manner- Liaison with social service agencies and families - Responsible for linking the student and his/her family to access external services where appropriate- Attend mandatory trainings- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director or Executive Director- Will coordinate home visits when requestedClinical licensure is preferred;Training in DBT preferred;Excellent verbal and written communication skills preferred; Diagnostic, assessment skills, and case management ability preferred;Interagency collaboration preferred;Ability to facilitate a group/lecture preferred;Understanding of boundaries and ethics preferred.
