LOCATION: Wayland Baptist University WBU (Plainview campus)

DEPARTMENT: Intercollegiate Athletics

SUPERVISED BY: Athletic Director and Head Coach of Softball

POSITIONS SUPERVISED: Student Managers and Student Assistants

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Assistant Coach of Softball would be responsible for assisting with all aspects of the WBU softball program as well as leading and developing the pitching program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

1. Bachelor Degree required

Experience and Knowledge:

1. Pitching background/experience preferred.

2. Knowledge and understanding of women’s softball

3. Knowledge of pitching specific skills and techniques

4. Continued learning and training pitching mechanics, skills and drills

5. Knowledge of NAIA and SAC regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment and retention of student-athletes.

Skills and Abilities:

1. Ability to communicate effectively with all personnel involved in the collegiate environment from student-athletes to administrators.

2. Ability to coordinate and guide student-athletes.

3. Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgements.

4. Ability to understand and enforce safety protocol.

5. Possess strong communication skills as related to PC and orally with all personnel as related to the university.

Working Conditions:

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Employment is subject to an introductory period to monitor employee performance. If hired, the prospective employee must present documentation within three (3) days of hire date to establish identity and employment eligibility as required by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Employee must be able and willing to travel and provide recruitment assistance to external campuses. Must be able to operate a licensed motor vehicle, have access to a dependable motor vehicle, and possess a valid state driver’s license. Must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record.
