Job Title: Social Media Strategist
FLSA Status: Exempt
Hours: Full-Time. Monday–Friday 9am-5pm. This position doesn’t always operate inside typical office hours, and will require nights and weekends based on coverage needs.
Salary Range: $37,000-$50,000 per year
Higher consideration will be given to candidates that submit a portfolio and cover letter.

Hurrdat is one of a kind. A media, marketing, and entertainment agency.
We were founded in Lincoln, Nebraska as a small team of two in 2010, offering social media services to brands and athletes. Over a decade of growth later we've grown to be a uniquely well-rounded marketing and advertising agency with in-house media, sports, entertainment, and film divisions.
Mergers and acquisitions over the years (with B2 Interactive, Disconnected Media, Digital Hero Films, Victory Fighting Championship, Hail Varsity, and Parkville Media) has grown our team to over 150 people.
We serve over 200 clients who collectively operate in 8 countries, including 43 states in the United States. Our clients range from local businesses just starting to build their brand and online presence to enterprise organizations.
About the role:
As a Social Media Strategist, you will be challenged to use your strengths in writing, content creation, and strategic execution to help engage our social audiences. You will work closely with members of the social, video production, SEO, reporting, and design teams to help identify opportunities and build creative, concise strategies incorporating them. Authenticity and follow-through are necessary. Whether you are a part of a meeting to discuss client analytics or pitching an idea to our team, you must be willing to own your wins and losses and share them to make yourself, our clients, and our team better. This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Hurrdat Sports.
In your role as Social Media Strategist, you will help plan, execute, produce and create video elements for Hurrdat Sports. This is fantastic opportunity for those interested in sports media marketing who also have an interest in sports video production.
Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
- Manage monthly content calendars and ensure content is on-brand, relevant, and meets our goals.
- Create social copy for promoting blogs, websites and social content.
- Optimize social media profiles.
- Engage clients’ online communities through outreach and community management.
- Research competitors and build strategies to advance Hurrdat clients.
- Plan and execute social media advertising campaigns for a variety of clients.
- Gather insights from supporting social data and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Film social media content at live sporting events
- Edit social media content of live sporting events
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Degree in advertising, marketing, communications, journalism, or related field is preferred.
- 1–3 years of related industry experience is preferred.
- Should have a strong understanding of social media and how it incorporates digital marketing strategies.
- Must have outstanding creative, collaborative, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Curiosity about the latest social media trends and desire to apply them to client strategies.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple client projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Must be a self-starter who understands the importance of being responsible to yourself and our team.
- Familiarity with Adobe editing products (Premiere, Audition, Photoshop)
- Ability to operate video camera
Candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment background check.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Work is normally performed in a typical office environment, but live event coverage may be required occasionally. Meaning travel and at times hours that extend beyond the typical 8am-5pm.
- Will lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds using safe and proper lifting methods.
