AAP Staff is looking for Slitter Operators in the Hanover Park area. This is a unique position that will give you the opportunity to go union. This is a temp to hire position with a great company that provides full benefit options.
In this roll you will be:
- Ensure machine is set-up to cut specified length on sheeting work order, or width for slitting orders.
- Assist in loading and unloading coils on machine.
- Cut cores as necessary for slitting jobs.
- Keep work area clean and neat; scrap is removed and contained
- Starts machine and observes flow of material through machine to detect irregular cutting and/stacking.
- Adjusts machine to stop, start, and regulate speed of machine and to align material for job as necessary.
- Completes required documentation accurately and timely.
- Meets or exceeds prescribed job standard for line speeds, scrap and set-up times.
- Reports any necessary maintenance of the machine to the maintenance or plant manager following prescribed methods.
- Reports any unsafe working conditions to the plant manager or other plant management member.
- Participates in cross-training opportunities and supports a continuous quality improvement environment.
- Review work instructions and procedures that are applicable to the position
Skills • Proven experience as a sheeter/slitter operator (3-5 years of experience). • Working knowledge basic tools used in manufacturing. • Understanding of production procedures • Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g., constant use of protective gear) • Ability to read write and speak English Language. • Speaks clearly, listens, and gets clarification. • Attention to detail; teamwork and communication skills. • Physical stamina and strength- Ability to lift 50 lbs. without assistance. Walking and standing 8-12 hours per day. • Full use of hands and arms to feel, touch, reach, grasp, pull, pull, lift. • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree is a plus.
