Job description

  • Prepare and calibrate equipment for proper function. Ensure proper signals and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Follow lights out procedures to establish and document baseline values.
  • Follow procedural protocols to ensure collection of appropriate data.
  • Perform polysomnographic data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact-free and make adjustments as needed.
  • Document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of results.
  • Demonstrates ability to assess patient, his/her need, and ability to tolerate treatment and reassessment for response to treatment. Implement appropriate interventions, including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age specific care in treatment, assessment, and education.
  • Assist with scoring sleep/wake stages, scoring clinical events, and the generation of accurate reports by tabulating sleep/wake and clinical data
  • Comply with regulations, guidelines, and standards regarding safety and infection control in the lab environment. Perform routine equipment care and maintenance and inventory evaluation.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Hill Country Memorial policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service. Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean and wears identification while on duty. Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time. Travel to offsite locations required.


Licenses/Certifications:

  • Certified Polysomnography Technician (CPSGT) - required to obtain RPSGT, RST,

or SDS (if CRT/RRT) within one year prior to expiration of CPSGT credential

  • Polysomnography Technologist (RPSGT), or
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist – Sleep Disorder Specialist (CRT-SDS), or
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist – Sleep Disorder Specialist (RRT-SDS), or
  • Registered Sleep Technologist (RST)

Will be working independently at night in sleep lab.
