Reporting to the Simulation Lab Director the Simulation Lab Specialist/Manager has overall responsibility for maintaining and managing all aspects of the Simulation Laboratory. This will include maintaining equipment and supplies including sophisticated high-fidelity mannequins and patient simulators, servers, audio-visual equipment, simulation capture system, and simulation software programs. This position will be responsible for the operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of all IT-related hardware and software. Works collaboratively with faculty and community users to enhance student learning, and coordinating a broad range of medical simulation for varied health care disciplines. Must maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling student files and patients' information. Supports the mission and philosophy of the College. This position will include developing a foundational Emergency Medical Technician coursework for first year medical students.

Daily Operations

1. Schedules appropriate simulation activities and trains staff, faculty and students on the use and operation of simulation equipment. Performs all pre-and post-simulation activities for training sessions held in the lab. Maintain, program, and lead orientations on simulation manikins and lab equipment. Programs and operates simulation console and software and assist students and faculty with the use of the simulation recording system. Maintains supplies and equipment, staffs practice labs, provides assistance to faculty and students during skills and simulation sessions. Ensures that instruction and student evaluation are in compliance with the Society of Simulation and Healthcare (SSIH) standards and The International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning Standards of best practices for simulation. Provides video recording of simulations and provides live streaming video of simulations when appropriate. Participate in simulation activities as needed. Setup and maintain simulation mannequins to ensure that they are working correctly with the system. Ensure simulation laboratories are properly prepared for faculty and student utilization in a timely manner.

2. Monitors, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot the high fidelity simulators, peripheral AV/computer equipment, the simulation capture system and all equipment communicating with manufacturers regarding maintenance on a timely basis, repairs and updates for all simulation equipment. Oversight of the technical and operational systems design, policies, planning and support for IT-related needs; working with Director and faculty to develop the capabilities of the Simulation Lab, evaluate new IT-related equipment, identify opportunities to technological improvement, and improve Lab operations; participating in the development and creation of multimedia resources for students. Ensures all systems are operable for scheduled scenarios including the programming of the simulators and the monitoring of systems. Maintain observation cameras and videos to support the pedagogical needs. Works with the IT to implement, manage, and maintain servers that contain video and classroom content, manage servers to ensure that clinical and simulation data are stored and backed up.

3. Collaborate and assist faculty and Director with the development and implementation medical simulation scenarios. Works with faculty to plan, implement, execute and evaluate competency based simulation activities using evidence based practice standards, course outcomes and curriculum benchmarks. Support all clinical learning lab and simulated patient care learning experiences for students by assisting deans, assistant deans, program/course coordinators, faculty, and students with appropriate resources to
successful complete evidence-based learning opportunities in simulated patient care environment.

4. Manage the day to day operations of the simulation labs. Ensures that the laboratory is cleaned/sanitized
and kept in an orderly manner. Plan, set up, run, clean up and break down of rooms and equipment.
