Blazerworks is excited to partner with a school district in Round Lake, IL and is currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to join our team on a full-time basis for the full school year. Responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpretation services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and other educational activities for students
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and other school staff
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure effective communication in educational settings
- Assist with the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) for students
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interpreting assignments
- Stay updated on best practices and advancements in sign language interpretation
Requirements:
- Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Proven experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in an educational setting
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of various signing systems
- Strong understanding of deaf culture and the unique needs of individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
