Job Summary
Verifies and records all incoming and outgoing shipments. Prepares items for shipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibility: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipment, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
  • May operate or use a hand truck, pallet jack or forklift to move, convey, or hoist shipments from the shipping and receiving department to storage, or other work areas.
  • Assembles wooden or cardboard container or selects pre-assembled containers.
  • Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crate or containers.
  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other work areas.
  • Determine proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facilities.
  • Maintains the machines, systems and work areas with which they perform their duties. Perform 5S duties on a daily basis for organization, safety and cleanliness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the company and fellow employees.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma with strong relevant work experience is required (working knowledge of hand-held measuring equipment and Optical comparators).
  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills

Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma or general education degree (GED). One year related experience. Must have basic computer skills.
