Crane Service Technician – Savage, MN

Road Machinery & Supplies Co. is searching for a RMS Rentals Crane Service Technician to join its team at its Savage, MN, location. As a, RMS Rentals Field Technician, your primary responsibility will be to diagnose construction equipment repair needs and perform designated repairs on customer or company owned machines as directed. Responsibilities:

• Ability to operate cranes in an effort to troubleshoot, repair and inspect cranes in the field at customer locations.
• Complete all assigned technician training path courses and safety training in a timely and proficient manner.
• Perform mechanical skills including, but not limited to, electrical, fuel injections systems, exhaust systems, cooling systems, air conditioning systems, lubrication systems, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting. Also, includes preventative maintenances and general machine upkeep.
• Services and repairs drive trains, hydraulic transmissions, steering components and vehicle braking systems.
• Detect faults/verify concerns through the use of diagnostic laptop computers, gauges and instruments in all machines systems: electronics, hydraulics, power train, engines and general machines performance is expected. Occasional operation of machine in the determination of repair need or repair assessment may occur.
• Maintain company service vehicle, inventory, tools and equipment adhering to DOT compliance.
• Disassemble and assemble machine components to manufacturer’s specifications through the use of hand tools, pneumatic tools or any other specialized tooling.
• Communicate between customers and internal RMS personnel to complete work in a timely manner and grow service labor sales.
• Possess the capability to engage with customers, co-workers, and vendors in a respectful manner.
• Prepare all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments.
• Maintain technical and product knowledge on all equipment sold within dealership’s area of responsibility.

Qualifications/Skills:

• Two-year technical degree and/or 3 years of mechanical experiences.
• Obtain Potain crane repairs and assembly/disassembly certification.
• Excellent trouble shooting ability to diagnose a machine right the first time.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Quality working knowledge of operations and mechanical functions of construction equipment.
• Excellent communication skills
• Valid Drivers License to operate service vehicle.
• Ability to lift 75lbs.
• Ability to work independently.
• Diligent attention to work responsibly, safely, and intelligently.
• Have the desire to take action, improve, and be appreciative.
