Job Description
Summary/ObjectiveInitiates automotive services and repairs by ascertaining performance problems and services requested; verifying warranty and service contract coverage; developing estimates; writing repair orders; maintaining customer rapport and records.
Essential Functions
1. Verifies warranty and service contract coverage by examining records and papers; explaining provisions and exclusions.
2. Develops estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor; calculating the customer's payment, including deductibles.
3. Prepares repair orders (RO) by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered, as well as repairs and services required; obtaining approval signatures; entering RO into the service database system.
4. Maintains customer rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of the vehicle; obtaining customer approval of estimates; obtaining and providing contact telephone numbers; answering questions and concerns; arranging towing and temporary transportation.
5. Maintains automotive records by recording problems and corrective actions planned.
6. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading manufacturers' publications.
7. Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

This job operates in the parts and service department of the dealership. It may be open to the Service bays.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
