The Senior Department Head is responsible for all aspects of their department. They oversee staff and work to increase productivity by training, motivating, and building the skills of their team members. They support business efforts and implement company changes. They also maintain quality customer service working towards exceeding customer expectation.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Provide prompt and courteous customer service centered around meeting the customer’s needs- Ensure that the salesfloor is maintained in a neat, clean, and organized manner
- Present merchandise that is accurately priced and fronted
- Replenish product availability by merchandising new and existing freight
- Maintain efficient and organized stock room
- Promote sales by building creative displays, showcasing seasonal product availability and value
- Monitor and rotate date sensitive product to ensure timely sell through
- Foster a safe and productive work environment for associates and customers
- Maintain correct inventory counts
- Use information technology to analyze inventory and merchandising results
- Execute company merchandising directives
- Train and mentor associates in product knowledge and specific departmental responsibilities
- Remain current on setting all ad pricing and price changes
- Ability to plan and merchandise based on seasonality
- Observe clothing rack rules and rack maintenance
- Follow proper fitting room security procedures
- Diligent in protecting company assets
- Follow all SOP guidelines and company policies
- Complete 4473 and Acquisition and Disposition paperwork with 100% accuracy
- Ensure firearms are displayed and handled appropriately
- Complete accurate daily firearm count
- Quarterly firearms serial number audit
- Systemically receive firearms and ammunition
- Respond to ATF requests within 24 hours
- Manager on Duty and key holder. Responsible for opening and closing the store
- Responsible for all managerial duties in the absence of salaried management
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
High school Diploma or equivalent- Basic Computer Knowledge
- Reading, Comprehension and Writing Skills
Preferred Qualifications
Previous managerial experience in retail- Age 18 or older in Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Ohio
- Age 21 or older in Illinois
- Not a felon, or a felon whose rights to possess firearms has been restored (requires passing deeper background check than standard)
- Illinois residents only: possess a valid FOID card

Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. The position does require frequent lifting of merchandise. It is expected that the employee lift safely, using proper body mechanics and lifting devices. When lifting heavy items, up to 50 pounds, a team lift may be required.
