Research Technician 3 - position under the general supervision of Dr. Gina Sizemore in the Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Performs laboratory experiments for research into the molecular and genetic pathways involved in the breast cancer tumor microenvironment using a variety of experimental techniques including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, cell culture, immunostaining, microscopy and western analysis
Works with tissue culture, mice, cell irradiators and patient tumor specimens
Performs routine experimental procedures on laboratory animals, including the performance of surgical procedures or administration of drugs
Executes planned research activities using observation, measurement and analytical techniques
Keeps experimental records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results
Summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts
Prepares research progress reports
Assists principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts
Conducts library research on requested topics through researching current literature
Oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities
Assists with training of undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation
Cleans and maintains glassware & laboratory equipment
Performs routine clerical duties to ensure the laboratory is appropriately supplied.
Education/Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree at a top undergraduate institution in chemistry/biology/health sciences is required.
Prior research experience in health science research is required.
Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required (presentations at national meetings).
Requires successful completion of a background check.
Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
