About the role

The position is primarily responsible for assisting the General Manager in strategy development and execution of Ready Mix and Aggregates businesses including supporting the functional areas of health and safety, operations (production, distribution, quality), sales and marketing, finance, sustainability and land & environment.

Responsibilities:
What you'll be doing
  • Communicate and promote safety, compliance, and environmental requirements in alignment with company standards.
  • Manage and report on projects, including financial budgets, commitments, forecasting and cash flow.
  • Hold a key management role in large capex projects from conception to project commissioning.
  • Develop capital plans for plants to continuously improve productivity and maintain costs.
  • Assist in achieving the plant strategic objectives by planning, implementing, directing and monitoring various activities at the plant and distribution level – including key performance indicators (KPI’s) and operational performance indicators (OPI’s).
  • Lead for market on new initiative rollouts and tracking for safety and performance.
  • Support the Region in achieving overall profit and loss targets by identifying opportunities for improvement as well as collaborating across the region to leverage resources, etc.
  • Partner with Regional Management and support functions on the development of overall objectives and long-range goals/strategies for the region.
  • Take a key role in identifying reserves and negotiating mineral rights.
  • Financial analysis on costs and revenue, and compare different sectors for optimum profitability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
We're looking for
Required Education: Bachelors Degree with 7 years of relevant experience or High School Diploma/GED with 10 years of relevant experience
Additional Education Preferred: Masters/Graduate Degree MBA
Field of Study Preferred: Operations Management, Business, Civil Engineering or other related discipline or equivalent experience
Required Work Experience: Minimum of 7 years of operations/production-related management experience in the construction materials, or a related industry; or 10 years of relevant experience with High School Diploma/GED.
Required Computer and Software Skills: Proficiency in Google mail and Microsoft Suite to include PowerPoint, Excel and Word
Travel Requirements: Local travel to plants regularly, and other travel occasionally.

  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously, and deal effectively with people using a facilitative approach
  • Intermediate computer skills using Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent communication/leadership skills
  • Strong understanding of financials and performance metrics
  • Strong knowledge of and understanding related to company products, processes and equipment
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
