Position Description:
Creates and edits a variety of materials such as text files, photos, illustrations and logos, and turns them into effective, coherent, integrated and exciting marketing pieces for Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona (GCNA). Assists with training and mentoring less experienced Graphic Designers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial –
Sustains growth through financial stewardship & fiscal responsibility.
- Responsible for all visual and graphic elements of the following: internal staff newsletter, published public newsletter, intranet, website, e-casts, brochures, flyers, handouts, folders, other printed materials, presentations, employee handbook, policy and procedures manuals, training manuals, and all other printed communications.
Customer & Community –
Collaborates with customers to understand and deliver customer’s needs & expectations.
- Works closely with department leaders and is accountable for the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of all graphic art and design.
- Reviews artistic design strategy and requirements with team members in Marketing as well as all functional and support departments within GCNA.
Operational Excellence –
Implements strategies to maximize resources and infrastructure.
- Handles all design work, layout, and management, including supervision of Design & Web Intern.
- Conceptualizes graphics required, produces sample layouts, then edits and modifies based on feedback.
- Recommends standards or parameters (in conjunction with contracted advertising agency) for usage of approved graphics and monitors usage for adherence.
- Art directs photo shoots and converts digital images; develops pictures using 2D software tools; completes programming to produce graphics required for publishing to print or web applications.
- Co-manages designated projects with the Corporate Writer from start to completion, including producing work independently as well as overseeing outside and in-house staff as necessary to complete projects.
- Oversees the print production of all design work.
Team Goodwill –

- Assists with the training and mentoring of Graphic Designers.

Performs other related duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):
- High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Marketing, graphic art, or another related field preferred.
- Must have 5-7 years’ experience with printed material and press experience, including brochures, flyers, ads, books, etc.
- Must have at least 3 years’ experience in web design elements.
- Technical, computer graphic skills required.
- Strong understanding of color separation and optimization of scanned images.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong history of quickly building relationships, gaining credibility, and partnering with department leaders and peers.
- Some experience in copywriting, preferred.
- Experience with Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and InDesign, required.
- Strong organizational and detail orientation skills.
- Proficient MS Office skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage multiple, complex projects in varying stages of development under time pressure and deadlines.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen, where applicable for position.
