TriLink BioTechnologies, a Maravai LifeSciences company, is seeking a Senior Director, Technical Programs to join our growing team. The Senior Director, Technical Programs partners with commercial operations, leaders (manufacturing and R&D) and customers to build scientific strategies that enable delivery of GMP plasmid and mRNA Services to fulfill on the business vision. This position focuses on driving consistency and scientific excellence through the crafting of award-winning proposals and SOW for process development strategies through to GMP manufacturing, hereby helping our clients speed their projects to clinical proof of concept and confirm clinical success while scaling up the drug substance manufacturing. This role reports to the Chief Commercial Officer and delivers on our promise of enabling the miracle of science through our expertise in nucleic acid production.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a team of proposal writers and technical SME to provide in depth technical knowledge in plasmid and mRNA platforms/systems, analytical assays and testing, and cGMP capabilities for manufacturing mRNA drug substance and GMP raw materials
  • Design team with processes, templates and structure to execute on building a functional group with ability to scale, partner with clients and the business
  • Provide technical solutions and options that assist clients in achieving their development, production requirements for phase appropriate stages across all classes of mRNA vaccines, cell and gene therapies
  • Work with business development team members, product management and marketing teams to support technical expertise in the field and/or marketing initiatives
  • Build and maintain relationships both internal and external
  • Foster a culture that promotes the Maravai culture and values
  • Recommend service improvements to site heads, senior management and initiates professional scientific and technical staff discussions for capability enhancements, strategic planning and process improvement
  • Metric driven with cadence of reporting KPIs to drive decision making and improvements

EDUCATION

  • Ph.D. (or related experience) in relevant field to pharmaceutical product development preferred

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Ten years' experience in biologics development and manufacturing industry
  • At least three years' experience in drug substance development manufacturing industry
  • Experience in contract manufacturing industry preferred
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience will be considered

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Requires science background, collaboration and influencing skills, and a customer solutions mindset.
  • A high level of technical expertise in the areas of mRNA drug substance manufacturing, such as:
    • techniques, platforms, equipment and testing typical to biologics manufacturing
    • current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) regulations (US Federal CFRs) and cGMP facility requirements
    • Biosafety Level (BSL)
    • current FDA and USP guidance process development, characterization and validation
  • Able to scientifically and technically interact at a deep level with director and C-suite level to effectively communicate scientific and business value propositions
  • Effectively communicate cost and timeline implications, advantages, and disadvantages of different manufacturing platforms that can be used
  • Able to effectively interact with and influence across an organization
  • Knowledgeable of emerging trends in mRNA manufacturing
  • Superlative interpersonal, written and presentation skills
  • Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to travel quarterly

The anticipated salary range for this position is $200,000 - $250,000 In addition, highly competitive long-term incentives in the form of company equity, bonus participation and company sponsored benefits are provided as part of the total compensation package. The salary offer will depend on multiple factors which may include the successful candidate's skills, experience and other qualifications, as well as the location of the role.
