Job Summary
The Senior Cost Accountant serves as the key finance representative at their location, and as a member of the plant team is responsible for day-to-day financial activities, plant performance analysis, forecasting and budgets.
Essential Functions/Duties

• Setting standard costs of manufactured goods
• Developing and analyzing cost standards and the development of variance reporting
• Develop costing systems and allocations, as necessary
• Work with the manufacturing team to identify changes needed to standard costs and routings based on trends for actual labor and machine time
• Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for cost accounting and reporting
• Responsible for any month-end close procedures related to inventory such as journal entries and account reconciliations
• Responsible for bill of material changes and maintenance as needed
• Responsible for product costing for Costing & Feasibility (C&F) requests as needed
• Responsible for updating plant variance forecast weekly and monthly, including explanations
• Review work order variances to determine if they are labor or machine time related and record them appropriately.
• Perform variance analysis, including Purchase Price to Cost variance, Invoice to PO price variances and work order variances.
• Analyze plant variances and report findings to plant management and operations finance weekly
• Liaison with production personnel in review/analysis bills of material, manufacturing work order variances, cycle counts and year-end physical inventory.
• Key point of contact to help the plant observe, report, forecast, and improve financial performance

Education/Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• Advanced experience using Microsoft Excel
• ERP experience required
• 5 years of cost accounting experience required
