Job description

Executes security rounds of all buildings, parking lot and lakeside. Completes security log every hour except in times of emergency or when resident needs prevent front desk relief.

Assumes responsibility for setting the perimeter security system and responds immediately to alarms.

First response to scene of all unit or common area fire alarms. Provides fire fighting support and resident assistance until fire department arrives according to emergency procedures.

Interfaces with responding police officers and other personnel as required.

Observes for any unusual occurrences and is aware of strangers on the premises.

Completes quality assurance documentation regarding all unusual occurrences during shift for review by general manager.

Complies with policies and procedures set forth in Exposure Control Plan from health services department.

Assists the nurse in medical emergencies, as needed.

Performs receptionist, transportation/valet and minor maintenance duties.

Checks read file and red log book at the start of each shift.

Assists residents with luggage, packages, flowers or mail if requested during rotating coverage of front desk with nurse and/or other security guard.

Maintains proper appearance of uniforms at all times.

Inventories key log at beginning of each shift.

Provides minimal maintenance support using proper judgment in contacting on-call assistance as needed.

Ensures proper communication with the front desk via radio when on rounds.

Answers and transfers all incoming telephone calls, taking accurate messages as appropriate and/or forwarding calls to employee voicemail.

Provides wheelchair service to residents.

Participates in maintaining written procedures for all departmental job functions.

Uses proper body mechanics to assist in an average 150 lb. two-man lift, if needed, by directions of nurse.

Ability to carry 60 pounds for delivery of resident luggage/packages wearing back support provided by El Dorado.

Must be able to walk the grounds for security rounds.

Annually reviews company policies.

Annually reviews department training video(s).

Safeguards self, residents and fellow employees through safe work practices.

Other duties may be assigned.
