Secondary Equipment Operator
Job description

Summary
Involves performing any of the secondary or finishing production steps. Performing the secondary or finishing productions steps in CNC Machined parts. QC checking work on an on-going basis.
Operate various machines in the Secondary Operations and perform visual inspection of parts to ensure customer requirement of “0” defects are met. The successful equipment operator must be able to follow and adjust to customer demands.
Equipment in this classification includes: RADs, Vision sorting machines, CNCs and Threaders (In-Line and non In-Line).At the higher Grades, operation of the equipment shall include First Piece Inspection, minor machine adjustments, and assistance with setups.
Tasks that all Operators are required to be able to perform are: Manual Sort, Hi-Lo, Parts Washer, and Scale. Additional tasks may be: Packing, Floor Scrubber, and Bar Coding.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Clock in labor tracking program using basic computer skills.
Follows verbal and written work instructions and procedures specific to job orders (i.e. routers, travelers).
Operates equipment or performs processes using efficient procedures to ensure meeting production standards, (i.e. Assembly, Packing, Bending, Piercing, Deburring, Sawing, Sorting, Reworking, Buffing, Load jigs, Helping other operators, Loading and unloading parts from lines or machines i.e. use crane to move material from degrease tank to racks, Operate aging equipment per standards with authorized training.
Uses necessary measuring tools to ensure required quality standards are met and performs quality checks per requirements.
Maintains all traceability of product recording written data to work order.
Safety moves product and long tools through work cell by hand or carts.
Communicate with team members on daily material process flow, to include safety and continuous improvement projects.
Seeks assistance of lead persons to make necessary adjustments to machinery and equipment.
Participate in Continuous Improvement Team.
Follow safety policy, i.e. Safety procedures, OSHA requirements, PPE requirements.
Maintain a clean, safe work area by practicing basic shop housekeeping.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Should know how to use all quality gages (micrometer, caliper) and read blue prints. Must possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid hi-lo license. Previous experience operating threaders is helpful.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Interaction with plant and management personnel required. Must possess the ability to understand verbal and written instructions. Should have the ability to effectively communicate with management and coworkers in a friendly, professional and respectful manner.
Mathematical Skills
Should possess basic math skills, including ability to use gages, including micrometers, calipers and various sized plug gages.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Frequently required to talk and hear, sit/stand for 8 hours. Frequently required to bend, stoop, kneel, reach or crouch. Frequently required to lift up to 50 pounds; up to 25 - 30 pounds on a regular basis.
