Job description
The Children's Workshop is seeking an experienced School Maintenance Person to provide students and staff with a safe, clean, comfortable, and efficient environment in which to learn, play, and work. This is newly created position working at our Central Falls school.
We are looking for a flexible, detail-oriented, self starter to work independently to complete daily cleaning and maintenance tasks while being willing to take on special projects, setup and other non-routine tasks as the need arises. The School Maintenance Person will work to complete work assignments independently and coordinate/assist our property maintenance contractor with larger projects as needed.
Job responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring the building and grounds are clean, safe, secure and in good repair.
- Routine upkeep of exterior grounds area, parking lot and outdoor play areas. This includes light landscaping along with snow and ice removal.
- Maintaining cleanliness of restrooms, conference room, kitchens, and other shared spaces in the school. Adhere to established cleaning schedule and address emergencies as needed.
- Performing preventative maintenance and minor repair activities related to the building, grounds and equipment.
- Performing facility repairs and upkeep such as: light carpentry, door and window repair, drywall and painting.
- Moving, lifting and carrying furniture and supplies.
- Work cooperatively with other school personnel to: maintain recordkeeping on completed work, facilitate annual building inspections, and coordinate supply inventories.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required. Training and/or experience in carpentry, plumbing, painting, and minor electrical work is preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year general maintenance work experience.
- General understanding of electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems and the ability to independently troubleshoot problems.
- Must have reliable transportation to report to school for scheduled daily shifts and occasional evening/weekend emergencies.
- Ability to walk, stand, kneel, sit, bend, lift and work inside and outside is required. Must be able to regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs, occasionally up to 100 lbs.
- Must successfully complete background check screenings.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
