    Job Summary: The School Improvement Coordinator is responsible for designing, coordinating and/or delivering professional development for principals, teachers and paraprofessionals, directly related to the District’s improvement plan. The School Improvement Coordinator identifies emergent needs and collaborates to ensure evidenced-based professional development is offered and implemented to promote equity and excellence for all students, educational professionals, and FNSBSD families in our schools.

    Grade: 7
    Salary Range: $75,143.95-$105,538.99 (Depending on Experience)
    Work hours: 8 hours per day
    Work year: 12 months
    Retirement: State of Alaska PERS
    Bargaining Unit: Non Represented


    Job Qualifications/Requirements (please review job description for qualifications and duties of the position):

    • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field.
    • At least five (5) years experience in K-12 education.
    • Documented experience in collaborative teaching, collaborative lesson planning, peer coaching and teacher training.
    • Understanding of or willingness to learn about adult learning theory.
    • Experience with state and national-level education standards, district curricula, district policies.
    • Experience in program management, evaluation, program planning, program development, implementation and evaluation.
    • Must have an understanding of K-12 education structures.
    • Must possess strong oral and written communication and organizational skills and be able to work with a wide range of personnel.
    • Knowledge of, and ability to effectively research, communicate, and model, evidenced -based instructional practices.
    • Ability to assist education professionals in reflecting on their own instructional practices.
    • Ability to identify emergent needs from data, collaboratively create effective professional learning to address identified needs, then document data-based results for evaluation.
    • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to use software programs and technology to create learning presentations.
    • Must be able to travel to various schools and offices within the Fairbanks North Star Borough. While driving on district business, must hold a valid driver’s license, current insurance, and vehicle registration.
    • Willingness to learn and grow in an evolving system. It is not expected that this candidate will have experience in all areas, but it is expected that this person will become proficient in all areas.
