GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Responsible for the effective and efficient management and coordination of underwriting and assisting in the servicing of the bank’s Small Business Administration (SBA) 7(a) and 504 loan portfolio. This position will also be directly responsible for managing, hiring and training of personnel that handle the above responsibilities and any other analytical tasks assigned by the Director of SBA. This will include making sure that the personnel are properly trained so that the 7A and 504 loans are underwritten and serviced with minimal issues. This includes making sure that all eligibility and underwriting procedures are followed pertaining to the guidelines set forth in the SBA SOP 50-10 and SBA SOP 50-55.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB – Other duties may be assigned
MUST HAVE: Commercial Loan and SBA Underwriting experience!!
- Work with SBA sales personnel and when necessary, the bank’s lending personnel in gathering and analyzing all required information from existing Borrowers and Prospects
- Analyze credit worthiness of prospects by gathering credit and industry information.
- Spread and analyze financial statements, incorporating the use of credit analysis tools.
- Prepare credit approval documentation including underwriting, risk rating and profitability analysis.
- Assist in developing financial projections to determine repayment capacity.
- Will ensure that all required appraisals and ESA reports relevant to the closing of SBA loans are compliant with all SBA rules.
- Make sales calls with SBA personnel and the bank’s Loan Officers, if necessary, to ensure sufficient knowledge of the relationship.
- Ensure all loan write ups from this area are of the highest quality with a minimal amount of back and forth revisions.
- Maintain extensive knowledge of the bank’s internal SBA loan policy and regulatory issues.
- Working with the Loan Officers to monitor and workout a possibly failing SBA loan.
- Continually work to develop efficiencies in the underwriting and servicing process and documentation.
- Other job related assignments as assigned by the Director of SBA.
